Unprecedented social issues challenge Italy.

The Italian government has implemented the new digital terrestrial DVB-T2 and forced hundreds of millions of people to buy new TVs. This transition to DVB-T2 began on October 2021 and will fully end in 2023, by then all televisions purchased before 2010 will have to be replaced. This transition affects all households  who live in a house, in the form of higher bills, independently from how frequently they watch TV.

Higher electricity and gas costs put increasingly high pressure on households, on top of additional TV bills related to the transition to the new digital terrestrial. This occurs during a historical period challenged by the pandemic and increasing fear of being infected from Covid-19. A rising number of households are faced with a difficult economic environment and an ongoing health crisis.

2022 is a year in which people aspire to go back to the pre-pandemic normalcy, while dealing with the issues brought by the crisis.
